Kobe Bryant Shoes for the Olympics: Nike Hyperdunk
Nike designed the "lightest and strongest basketball shoe ever" for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. These are not exactly Bryant's new signature shoes, but Nike is using Kobe as the main face to promote the sneakers that will be worn by him and many olympic stars like Manu Ginobili (Argentina) and Dirk Nowitzki (Germany) among others. The shoes will feature colorways and characters to represent each player and National Team.
On April 7, 2008 Nike and Kobe Bryant launched the Nike Hyperdunk, presenting it as Nike’s lightest and strongest basketball shoe ever and one of the many superior, lightweight performance product innovations the company unveiled to support athletes from over 100 countries who will compete for gold in 32 sports in Beijing 2008.
The Hyperdunk shoes, that introduce two technology innovations by Nike (Flywire and Lunarlite foam) were showcased by Kobe for the first time in a Lakers vs Clippers game on April but what amazed everybody was a couple of videos officially posted on Youtube with Kobe jumping over a full-speed Aston Martin with his Hyperdunks on and later one with him jumping over a pool full of snakes.
Other players from the 2008 USA Basketball men’s National Team who will be wearing Nike Hyperdunk shoes in the Olympic Games are: Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd, Tayshaun Prince, Michael Redd and Deron Williams. From the women's team the list includes Seimone Augustus, Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings, Sylvia Fowles, Lisa Leslie, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Smith, Diana Taurasi, TIna Thompson. Also international NBA stars like Andrei Kirilenko (Russia) Pau Gasol (Spain), Yi Jian Lian (China) will be wearing personalized Hyperdunks

Official Description:
The Hyperdunk is the future of basketball footwear. Constructed using Nike’s 'Fly Wire" technology, Vectran fibers, which are five times stronger than steel and never lose their strength, are encased in the skim to harness the body of the shoe. These thin wires act as supports on a suspension bridge, providing the necessary support structure while eliminating excess weight above the sole.
The sole is constructed with Lunar Foam, a material developed by NASA that gives the shoe excellent shock absorption and a great feel with minimal weight. With a breathable mesh tongue and a protective heel cup your safety and comfort is assured during your long flights.
Quite simply, the revolutionary Hyperdunk delivers all the support you need on the court with the least amount of weight. Jump higher. Cut sharper. React faster. Be more explosive. The Hyperdunk represents the future.
